Grandma Martin Camp
Their grandma camps are always amazing! The theme this year was “Survivor.” They always make it a spiritual lesson along with lots of fun.
Day 1 The favorite challenge of the day…learning the Haka. (I wish I could have downloaded the video but it didn’t work. It was awesome and the kids loved it, especially the last part where they stick their tongues. It is on Sandi Christensen Martin’s Facebook)
Free time…swimming, playing guitar and piano, teaching Brady Hip Hop Moves and playing Tic Tac Toe.
First challenge…to create your own totem. It’s so fun to watch big buddies help their little buddies. So much creative energy.
Meet the Challenge Teams… the Gold Team-“Anacondas” Captained by Emma and the Blue Team…”Killer Sharks” Captained by Brady
Survivor challenge. Tortilla challenge. Looks like they played rock, paper, scissors and whoever won got to hit the other person with a tortilla in the face. Sandi said it was hilarious
Survivor Challenge: Target practice
Watermelon eating contest. The older kids couldn’t use their hands.
Survivor Challenge…Balloon Baby Challenge. The cast aways made babies out of balloons and had to keep them alive. An obstacle course was challenging… but no match for the dirty diapers that needed to be changed. It was hysterical… when our 5 year old Link saw that his baby had a dirty diaper… he removed himself to another table and said…”I’m not playing that game anymore.”
Survivor Challenge….Team Building Lava Challenge. Each team had to advance from point A to Point B without falling into the hot lava (the grass). The opposing team tried to distract and make their opponents fall into the lave by squirting them with water guns.
Survivor Challenge… Hoola Hoop Challenge. While holding hands the teams had to get a hoola hoop from one end of the line and back without letting go of hands.
Human Battleship… with teams strategically placed across from each other…but not being able to see each other. They sent water balloon bombs over the net trying to hit their opponents…thus sinking their ships. SO FUN…!
Human Ring Toss… the castaways tossed pool rings to their team members trying to get three rings over their heads. They then had to walk back to their team.
The popular candy game.
Tribal council. They all came out in a silent line completely holding their torches. In tribal council they repeated the phrase We will have courage, we will work hard, and we will have faith. Then they said the tribe has spoken. They probably had a devotional too.
Free time in the pool.
Last day breakfast of sticky buns and scrambled eggs.
While the kids were gone I changed the faucet in the bathroom. Hard water had messed it up and it was leaking. It was quite a chore. Everything was stuck on it because of the hard water, and I had a hard time getting things loose. Plus there was not much space to maneuver. But the new faucet looks great!
I also went to the Bountiful temple this week. The first time since Covid. Everything was simplified and was a 1/2 hour shorter.
It was good that the kids were gone for several days because Siara has been throwing everything up with her pregnancy. She couldn’t get out of bed. I took Remi and we did a lot of girl things like going to Claire’s and getting her some new hair clips. She also picked out what she wanted for her birthday. The boys wouldn’t have enjoyed that shop, but Remi looked around for a long time. She had to go to the potty three times while we were in there. Maybe a UTI.
