Flowers and Garden

Siara and I got a bunch of wilted flowers for 10 dollars a cart at Home Depot. Most of them perked right up with water. I gave most of them to my mom because she loves growing flowers and I knew she didn’t have a lot of money to buy flowers. The rest of the flowers I put in the pots around the patio and in the ground by the patio. We got several hanging pots in the carts and they looked really pretty decorating the patio.

I have also been working on the garden. Siara and Nate had set up the planting mounds and drip system last year but the weeds in-between the mounds took over. I first tried putting down cardboard (because we have so much of it from Siara’s business) and then I put mulch on top of the cardboard, but it was too expensive for the mulch. We then tried garden fabric, but the weeds just kept growing underneath it. So I decided to just use black plastic to kill the weeds. I worked really well. I still have a few more rows to do, but I’m running out of things to plant. The garden area is huge. The plants we planted in the garden a few weeks ago are starting to thrive and look really good. We have voles by the pea plants and they have digging them up.
