Park

On Monday the kids and I went and got sandwiches and donuts and then went to a park in Tooele that was supposed to be good. It was a dinosaur theme with bones to climb on and eggs to play in. It also had a great exercise area with lots of bars and posted ways to use each station. The kids had fun trying some of the exercises

The park had a scavenger hunt activity. The boys had lots of fun finding each item on the poles of the playground. They looked like what Link has his fingers on. Each was a different color.

Below: Remi walked across these bones, over and over again, while holding my hand. She wants to do everything her brothers can do.

One really fun thing at the park was this game. You try to get points by touching the light when it flashes on one of the posts. They played in teams too. One team got the red lights and the other got the green lights. The boys played this game over and over again. Even Remi got in on the fun.

Windstorm

On Tuesday we had huge windstorms that destroyed Siara and Nate’s new chicken house that they were building. The chickens needed a new coop because they were now in the back fenced in area because neighbors complained that they were getting into their yard and digging holes. Siara and Nate were very disappointed because they put in a lot of work putting up the walls and they were making some good progress. They had hired some boys to help in the yard and the boys put up the plywood. That was what caught the wind and made the whole thing fall.

The wind was so bad during the storm that huge trees were blown over in Salt Lake City. Some metal parts on top of a big sign at Nate’s work flew off and scratch Nate’s new truck in several areas. The building’s insurance is supposed to fix the damage. There is some sun damage on the roof of his truck, so maybe the insurance will paint that too when they fix it. Before the windstorm, there wasn’t a scratch on the outside of the truck, except for in the bed of the truck.

Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum

In the afternoon, after the winds calmed down a little, I took the kids to Gateway Discovery Museum. Because of Covid 19 it was very different. Only one family could be in an area at a time. They received a basket of toys that went with that area such as balls, or tools, or groceries. When they were done they put them in a big bin so they could be sanitized.

This coin machine next to the grocery store was fun for the kids. The kids put giant coins in a slot and then turned the wheel and the coins dropped into their slot according to what kind they were. Remi had fun doing it too.

Remi got on the big horse and I couldn’t get her off. Other families were waiting but every time I tried to coax her, she would pat and say horsy, meaning that was where she wanted to stay. I was surprised she liked it so much because it was really tall and it didn’t do anything. She had climbed on from the platform. Finally, I had to lift her off and take her to the water play area. Not even the water would coax her.

Remi liked climbing this ladder into this little house.

She also liked this boat. She sat in it and said “Row, Row Your Boat”. She really likes that song. Grandpa sings it to her.

The kids played in the kitchen for a bit too. The stove lit up red when you turned the dials. There was a basket of dishes and food and the kids set the table and put food out. Remi did it too after the boys left.

Remi really liked this activity. Giant paper filters were used instead of the scarves they normally had. The paper filters could be thrown away after the kids played there.

The magnetic tube wall is fun. The kids could move the tubes and ball guides around to where they want the balls to go.

Link really liked the helicopter displays.

Sold Motorhome

On Wednesday we sold the motorhome for 22,000. I will miss it. We have so many great memories in it, but we need something bigger so more family can go camping with us. Also, I didn’t want to mess with the upkeep anymore. It had a leak on the side panel that was causing some swelling and delamination, and that kind of stuff stresses me out. Lots of people were interested in the motorhome but only one guy knew the true value of it and came and looked at it. That model and year was selling for 29-30 thousand online.

John’s 11th Birthday

On Wednesday was little John’s 11th birthday. John M. took him out for crab. John R. loves seafood, which is unusual for a kid. He especially likes the seafood his father makes.

On Thursday the weather cooled down and I got our Halloween stuff from the old house. The kids had a ball going through it and decorating their front porch. We also went to Dollar Tree and got some more things to use to decorate with. The kids redecorated every day.

On Friday mom found out that she got the apartment she wanted to get into. It will be a month before she can move in though, and it is a lot smaller than our basement, but she was glad to get it because she was very stressed with Joann wanting to get into the basement. Though I’m not sure if Joann will be moving in because she had a bad episode where Grandpa Whitman had to call 911. The sheriff took her to a hospital where she could get some help.

The boy’s Grandma Martin saw how much Link liked his toy ATV so she got Locke and Remi electric vehicles too. So fun!! Remi was a little scared of hers. She would only ride it if I was pushing the button that made it go.

Link and Locke racing below. Locke’s ATV has a slow start, but it gets up to the same speed as Link’s.

On Saturday Link had a soccer game. He was finally old enough to play like Locke. He did great at the practice but it was a little scary for him at the game with all the people watching, so he wouldn’t go play. He likes to watch to make sure it is something he can do. He may be a little bit of a perfectionist like his grandma and doesn’t like to make mistakes, but when he saw his teammates making lots of mistakes, I think he began to feel safe. It is good for him to do things like this and be around people. Hopefully he will be able to do more in the future.

Nate had some school work to do for his animal chiropractic certification so Siara and I and the kids went to the Firetruck Museum. We had the whole place to ourselves. The guy gave the kids some fireman hats and told us which firetruck the kids could climb on. It was a a 1946 Grantsville truck.

Below: Pictures on the inside of the truck such as the instrument panel. Also a picture of the old metal bumper.

I was amazed at how many firetrucks there were in the museum. They had rows and rows of them, and many of them were really old.

After the fire museum we saw cars at the track racing so we decided to go check it out. We were able to get in for free and found a stadium and watched the races. Locke is being the news cast guy below.

After the race we went to look around some more and found a bunch of fancy race cars in a staging area. A guy told us they were the fast cars. The race we had watched was just the decked out street cars.

We got ice cream and went and watched the fast cars race. They had a checkered flag at the end indicating it the end of the race and all the race cars got off the track and came in. Link didn’t want to leave. He wanted to stay and watch more races.

On the way out we saw people arriving for a Rave Rock Concert. They drove into the concert in their cars and that was their spot to watch the concert. I cost 250- 700 dollars per car. We saw people walking around and the women had very little clothes on, G-strings and straps. I didn’t expect to see something like that in Utah.
