August 22nd – 28th

Dreamscapes had moved locations to an indoor mall in Sandy. The entrance was in a room filled with unusual art, like the crochet starters walker below.

Dreamscapes is made by local artist from recycled materials found at a dump. Dreamscapes had a theme and story this time and all new decor. There was an introduction video that talked about how people had stop dreaming and a withering was coming into the dream world. We saw patches of black tendrils as we went through the dreamworld.

First we started in an area that had shops that were selling things for dreams. I loved the tracks made out of keyboards and the room made out of old VHS tapes.

This is a light display . The kids chose what colored button to push and then the wall panels all let it in a show with that color.

Next was a area were people dream of space and airplane flight. Link like the cockpit with all the buttons and levers he could move. The second picture is cargo area with lots of plastic bins that look like cargo. Lastly is a wall of color changing sequined fabric that people drew on. It led to an fantasy themed area.

Fantasy area that then turned into a garden

This is a room that changed colors constantly making everything a new color. These wall boards were interesting. I don’t know how they got all the colors to change.

Candy Room. Colorful and bright with a additional wall of stuffed animals.

Under the sea room

Octopus made out of small garbage items. One of the characters in the story. We push a button to hear its story.

Deep ball pits

The dream dragon. Another character in the story.

Weird house. The organ pipes were made out of cardboard and the stain glass windows were made out of plastic cellophane.

Mirror area. They didn’t have the mirror maze this time but they had several unusual mirror displays.

The unicorn is Remi’s favorite character in the story. Next to it was the dream tree where you could write a dream and hang it on the tree and that would stop the withering.

The last part was a shop area that no longer had any withering. There was a bookstore with books everywhere an umbrella made out of slides, Some wild fashion, etc.

After Dreamscapes we went to the mall play area for kids.

Next to the play area was a indoor play place that was on my Get Out Utah pass, so we went there too. Link fell off the shoe cabinet that he was climbing, which is unusual because doesn’t usually fall when he climbs. He hit his head hard on the floor. It really hurt him and he was screaming. The people at the place were very concerned and brought ice and wanted to know if I wanted to call anyone, like an ambulance. I told them that kids bounce, but I did keep an eye on him. Link was embarrassed and tried to hide in the shoe cubbies. His head fit in them but his body didn’t. It was a little funny. He was up and playing aggressively again in no time.

They had fun on the merry go round, the swing, and the slides. They also liked building things with he blocks, especially Link.

Lastly, we stopped in a Halloween store on our way out to check out the animatronics. Link thought they were awesome. He wanted to set one of them off, but was a little afraid, so I did it for him. Locke got a video of it. Locke doesn’t like scary stuff so he was staying way back.
