Fourth of July in Canyon

For the Fourth of July we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the waterfall area the kids and I found. Everyone was worried that it would be crowded but we had the whole place to ourselves for most of the day. For some reason it isn’t well known. I had made a picnic of sandwiches, fruit, gatorade, cookies, and chips. It was nice and shaded and higher in elevation so we were escaping the heat. I was excited to hike higher up the falls because I couldn’t do it that last time because Remi was too small.

After lunch the boys and I hiked. I had read that there was another bigger falls up higher. It was a hike to get too, but not too bad, and there was a trail. I was excited when we finally found it. It was beautiful and had a pool of water under it. The pool was probably deeper in the spring. It was a fun hike. We found easier ways on our way down. Remi could probably have done it going the easier routes.

Nate built rock towers and Siara was tired and just wanted to relax so she just watched Nate. He built some pretty impressive towers.

Amazing! Other hikers were going to get a thrill seeing that. Hopefully it won’t fall on anyone.

Grandpa built rock dams in the stream with the kids.

Remi just hung around eating Oreos, looking at bugs, and throwing grapes in the water and saying they were her duckies.

Grandpa camouflaged

Now he’s a tree

Oh, Grandpa, your’e so embarrassing!

It had been a very fun day!
