This is the Place Heritage Park

We went to show Siara the park and see what was now open. It was a very relaxing day.

The kids wanted to go to the stream and mine for gold first, so we rode the train up there. As we rode, the train conductor gave a very good historical explanation of things we passed.

The rock gift shop was open and they had a mining display hole with animatronic figures and a dynamite push handle.

The small train was open which Link was very happy about. I rode it with him and Remi.

The Indian village building still weren’t open, but we did check out the display in the teepee. The kids ground up corn and carded wool. The lady running it was very feisty.

Remi sat in a Native American chair that could be rolled up and transported.

After that we went and got some yummy hamburgers and waffle fries at the Huntsman Grill and saw a couple of hotel rooms they had on display.

Siara got a Jacob’s ladder toy for the kids and a mix of candy (with Jordan almonds) for me at the ZCMI Mercantile Store (ahh, so sweet).

Across the street was the Irrigation Station (a splash pad). There was a mountain stream scene on the wall with a mini waterfall. I think the splash pad was the kids favorite of the day. They got soaked. Remi did whatever the boys did, such as sitting on the fountains of water.

After the splash pad, we went to see cabin row and tried out the new handcart station. The lady told us the history of handcarts and then let us try one. They had trails it could be pulled on. It was hot and difficult…and we stayed on the easy trails. Haha. We decided we weren’t pioneers.

Lastly, we went and saw the animals and rode the ponies. Remi wasn’t afraid at all. She loved it and was waving and saying hi to mom as she rode by. It was too hot for the playground, but we did get an ice cream cone and then went to the gift shop. We found a movie and displays in the basement of the gift shop.

We were all tired after that. Everyone took naps on the way home or at home. It had been a fun day.
