Deseret Peak Temple Ground Breaking

The church finally broke ground for the temple in Tooele Valley. It was supposed to happen a long time ago, but people in Erda protested it being there because they didn’t want the housing development around the temple. Thy wanted to keep Erda rural. So the church decided not to put it in Erda. Ivory Homes donated some land to the church between Tooele and Erda. It’s actually in a good location, on a hill. Most of the valley should be able to see it.

The ground breaking was limited to invitation only because of Covid, but it was broadcast on Youtube. I missed it because of Link’s soccer game, but I read the articles about it. Adobe Rock hauled in some stone to decorate the ground breaking and some dirt to make it easier for the golden shovels to dig in. They also had a podium decorated with trees and bushes. Elder Hales of the Seventy from Grantsville did the dedication. Community leaders and stake presidents turned over the soil symbolic for breaking ground to build.
