September 14th – 20th

On Tuesday I needed to get the motorhome title, table parts, and spare tire holder to the guy who bought the motorhome, so I decided to take the kids to Thanksgiving Point and meet him there so he didn’t have to drive all the way up to Stansbury again from Provo. It was such a relief to get that done. I was worried that he wouldn’t bring the license plates because he didn’t have the tool to take them off, but he ripped them off so it worked out great.

Children’s Curiosity Museum

Childrens Curiosity Museum. Because school was back in the museum was very empty. It was great playing by ourselves at every station. I was able to play too since Siara was there to help with the kids. I had fun making stop motion shows and I found new rooms that I hadn’t seen before. The museum wasn’t as fussy about sanitizing so I hoped it was safe.

Remi playing in the water area. She looked so cute in these boots that they provided. She loved putting them on.

They had a whole room full of measuring activities. The kids had a lot of fun trying the different things in it.

Remi is good at stacking stuff, just her field of perception is a little short. She kept knocking down the blocks she had stacked when she reached for another block.

This showed how many blocks would make up Link and then the block figure did whatever Link did.

Link liked this treadmill.

This is a ball sorting activity where you measure the ball and then put it in the right hole according to how big it is.

This shows how big someone was if they were actually measured by their foot size. Siara was seven and half feet tall.

Next we went to the regular part of the museum.

The kids sorted vegetables. The first rabbit told them what vegetable it was. The second rabbit told them what kind of form it had like layers for an onion and long for carrot. The third rabbit told them what color it was.

The music room was next. Remi had no idea what she was doing but she had fun anyways.

This is Remi’s first experience with the bubble organ. She really got into it. I had fun with the harp. I didn’t know it could change to different sounds and strange noises.

The next thing we played at was the bank. The kids had fun sending the canister through the suction tube. Remi isn’t too sure about going into this locked vault full of stacks of money. It actually has a secret exit to the side. Once she figured that she did it several times. .

The next room we went into was a movie making room. We made stop action shows on these boards. Siara’s was hilarious. We laughed so hard.

In the movie making room you could be filmed in different locations. My favorite was with Dinos. You could pretend to pet them.

We also did the puppet room and the put on a play room. They had costumes you could wear and different scenery and music to go with the costumes. Link was a pirate. He acted out what Siara told him to do like dig for treasure and open the box. Below they are doing a pirate dance.

Locke got in on the fun and did a jester dance to carnival music.

We also checked out the book room and found a secret staircase up to a loft that looked over the museum main room. I saw lots of new things in the museum that I hadn’t seen before.

After the inside stuff we went outside to the archimedes play area. The kids, of course, did the zipline.

Next we went to the caves and the kids climbed all over the concrete tunnels.

Next we saw the fish. They had fixed up the pond and the view areas. It was a lot nicer. The fish swarmed wherever we went because they thought we had food.

The boys put on a bug show for me on this stage.

And they climbed all on this web.

We also did the mazes. I liked the short maze so I could see where the boys were.

Lastly we went into the nature walk area and found the sand pit and this tunnel. It looked like a drainage tunnel, but it was meant to be crawled through.

On Wednesday Nate had to go out of town to do some hands on work towards his animal chiropractic certification. He went to Texas at a ranch that teaches animal chiropractic. I took him to the airport because Siara wasn’t feeling well. She had caught a head cold somehow. After dropping Nate off I tried to take the kids to the Douglass military museum so they could see helicopters and tanks, but it was closed due to CoVid. Next, I tried to take them to the Red Butte Gardens, but that closed early due to Covid 19. The natural history museum next to it also closed entry at 3:30. I will be glad when Covid is done. We were able to get one picture of this money collecting dinosaur. Locke stuck his head in its mouth. Remi wouldn’t go near it.

We did get to go to the park and play while Locke had his soccer practice. Link played with a five year old girl that called herself a killer. She said she kills bad guys. She must watch her dad play video games. She had quite the imagination and didn’t stop talking. Link rarely had a turn to talk, but at least he was playing with someone. Remi was getting really good at climbing. She climbed a long ladder up the playground and she climbed a tall slide and slid down all by herself on here butt.

On Thursday I was sick with the head cold so we didn’t do much but stay home playing on electronics. I did feel better than Siara so I took Link to his soccer practice. Link was a little reluctant but I walked out with him. He hid behind me and would run out now and then to kick a ball. It didn’t take long for him to join in though. I was amazed at how good he was at soccer. I thought he would just stand and not chase the ball, but he was aggressively going for the ball. At first he would get upset if he wasn’t the one to make the goal, but I told him I was proud of how hard he was trying. He needed to know that effort was what was most important. After practice we went to the playground as a reward for his efforts. It was a fun afternoon together.

I continued to get sicker and sicker and we all just stayed home for the weekend. It was a bad time to be sick with Nate out of town. We had body aches and extreme exhaustion. I wondered if we had Covid but we didn’t have the coughing and high fever. Covid 19 numbers went up to their highest in Utah that they have ever been, to a thousand a day. I think it is because the kids are all back in school and that is spreading the disease.

On Sunday we didn’t do much because the boys wanted to play video games. We did go for a ride to see the old house. Whoever was living in it now had fixed it up. It looked great! They had added a garage, shutters, and a front porch. It looks like there is a pool in the backyard too. Everything else in the neighborhood looked the same except there was one more new house and a new subdivision behind it that was right next to the upper road.
