New Car: Buick Enclave

Three rows of seating. Seven seats all together.

Lately, I had been obsessively looking for a new car. John has wanted me to get one for a while because my Jeep has over 194,00 miles on it, but I love my jeep. It has been the perfect car for me, but I finally realized it was time because Remi is now old enough to go places with us, which makes my car very cramped with three car seats. Also, I need more seating so more adults can go with us places. Only one other person can go with me in the car because of all the carseats in the back.

I was on the internet constantly trying to find a car I liked. There were certain features I wanted: a light exterior and interior, bucket seats in the middle row so the boys wouldn’t feel so cut off when I put their car seats in the third row; and so they would be able to get in and out easily and not climb over seats to do it. I also wanted a rear entertainment system, safety features that helped prevent accidents, and two sunroofs so the back wasn’t so dark. The first car I liked was a Honda Pilot Elite and it had all those features. It was so well made. But I was glad I didn’t find one because it was tight in the back seat area. When nothing showed up for my alerts I had set on KSL, I started looking at other options. Nothing felt right though. I was spending so much time looking, and my car was a disaster trying to accommodate three kids. I also needed a safer car for the winter for picking up kids from school. Finally, in the middle of November, after two and half months of looking, I found a 2019 Buick Enclave. It looked great inside and out, but was too expensive. So I looked for a cheaper model and found one over an hour away. I really thought we were going to get it, but it didn’t feel right either. It only had a couple of safety features. But then the salesman showed me some other vehicles in the back and there was a 2017 Enclave in the garage they had just gotten in that was getting detailed. It was perfect!. It was a Premier with all the bells and whistles. It had everything I wanted and was bigger than the 2019, so it had more room in the back for the boys.

We got to take it overnight because our salesman was a talker and we didn’t get things finalized before they closed, which was good. Driving home I knew it was my car, but I researched to make sure we got a good price. I found that ours was a little over priced. I found another one identical to it that had half the miles. John really wanted that one. I thought it was a good deal too, but I just didn’t want to deal with it anymore. I was so stressed from all the research, looking at cars, dealing with salesmen, setting up the financing, etc. I negotiated the price down for the car we drove home and had them throw in some 400 dollar all-weather mats in to the deal too. At first they told me they couldn’t do the deal but changed their minds. I had prayed about it too to make sure it was okay. We got the car for 31,200, plus the mats. We financed 29,000.

The kids loved the new car, especially the DVD player and their own earphones. I plan on playing educational and church videos for them because I will have a captive audience. Having them watch videos while I drive helps me to drive safer because I’m not so jittery while I’m driving trying to keep an eye on them and drive at the same time. I also like the blind spot monitoring in the vehicle so I never have to turn my head away from the road when I change lanes.

The car has so many gadgets on it, so It will take awhile to figure everything out. It is amazing all the technology that has come out for cars since I bought my Jeep in 2004.
