Grist Mill Pumpkin Walk

The Benson Grist Mill had their annual pumpkin walk. Kids at schools decorated pumpkins and other items to display. They also had lots of other activities

They had a hay bale pipe slide.

Link was a little overwhelmed by everything and all the people at first, but eventually he started loosening up and having fun–including watching other kids go down the slide head first and trying that.

There were also some swimming pools filled with dry corn for kids to play in like a sand box.

There was calf head roping that Locke quickly got proficient at.

There were about six tables of free kids crafts. Link made a pumpkin necklace. He’s very methodical and likes to string beads. The table the boys liked the best though was the cookie decorating table.

There was a pumpkin launching machine that Locke was very fascinated with.

There were several painted scenes that you could stick your head in and get a picture.

This one of Locke looks real.

Trick or Treating. There were also a bunch of vendor booths, and the kids could go trick or treating at each booth. They got free Halloween bags at the mill store to put all their candy in.

Games

At this booth the kids got to grab a ball from the tank and then answer the matching color’s question. If they got it right they got a prize. Both kids got sunglasses as their prize.

Several of the booths were very interesting like a rock shop that had dyed Moroccan geodes. That’s where this mummy was that Grandpa tried to kiss–she looks scared. I got a grab bag of rocks for the kids at this booth. There was another booth with freeze dried food. I bought a gummy worm that had puffed up to 3 times its normal size and was crunchy. It was like a giant Cheeto. I also got a freeze dried ice cream sandwich. So weird.

By the vendor booths was a petting zoo. They had a baby zebra and a baby Yak.

The petting zoo also had baby pigs and goats, rabbits, duck, chickens.

Locke really wanted to ride a pony.

Candy Cannon! The kids all loved this as you can tell by the swarm of them trying to get the candy.
