Tooele Valley Temple

At the end of September, the site where the new temple in Tooele Valley was going to be was announced. I expected it to be up on the hill above Siara’s house so that the whole valley could see it. The other option was at the church farm in Erda because they already owned the property. The second option was correct. The temple is going to be located at the corner of Erda Way where Siara and Nate go to church. The church bought the land that Virg’s restaurant sits on, that is on that corner, which is good because it was an old building that need some updating. The food was good though.

In the below picture you can see the church building, and in front of that is Virg’s and an insurance building. Across the street is a drive-in theater that has been there for 70 years. Across the street from the drive-in, a small hospital is going to be built, and across the street from the hospital is a beef jerky store and a karate place. We expect that those business will sell their land too because it is going to be worth a lot of money. The church is going to build a new church building on the temple property too, so I guess they are going to tear down the old one.

I took the kids to the drive-in movie because I had never been to it before, and if it is going to be torn down I want to try it at least once. The kids loved it! We were on the front row and there were lots of other families there. The car next to us had a truck load of boys that Locke played with until the movie started. There was also a truck that had a mattress in the back of it and blankets and pillows. It was filled with teens. People also set out chairs to watch the movie. We went and got popcorn in the snack shack. It was a little, old building. We watched Dora the Explorer. I thought it would be for older kids, but it wasn’t and both boys loved it. Locke tried sitting on the hood of the car for a little while with a blanket, but it was sprinkling off and on. You listen to the movie on a radio station in your car. You would need a portable radio to watch it outside. The movie showed a very old introduction and welcome to the theater clip before playing the movie.
