Evermore Park

We went to the new immersion park called Evermore. It is built to be like a quest video game or a interactive theater. The set was a medieval town.

All the buildings were amazing. The owners even stocked the buildings with actual antiques they had gotten in Europe.

The actors were all dressed up and talking in character. Guests had to ask the characters questions to find out the storyline and what needed to be done. The storyline for this time of year was called Lore, and it was about a darkness that had come through the portal.

This is Giggles the Goblin. He collected jokes and gave gold for them. He was like a dufus character. The guy behind him with the candles dripping down his hat was usually found at the graveyard.

Siara and Nate’s friends, Kylee and Justin Schramm came too. I came to see the park and watch the kids while they did the quests.

The park encourages guests to dress up to keep the atmosphere. Siara and Nate and the boys were dressed up. Locke was a ninja and Link was a black caped ghost.

Nate dressed up as a stealth archer. He looked great and had even had braids in his beard.

Siara dressed up as her character from Dungeons and Dragons. She was a demon that didn’t want to be a demon, so her horns were filed down.

She had red eye contacts on. People recognized her character and wanted to take pictures with her. The park photographer even got a picture of her to use on their website.

The park was all decorated for Halloween with pumpkins and other decor. Locke liked these scary pumpkin creatures that were all over the park

A Pumpkin Creature

The first thing we did was to get some dinner. We got bread bowl soup. Even the people that ran the shops were dressed up and in character.

As we ate, one of the characters, a robot named Tip Top, came walking by and gave Locke a high five and a fist bump. The costumes were amazing.

There were people with animals walking around too. We talked to a lady with a parrot and the boys got to pet a snake.

We went to a bird and reptile show inside a glass house and saw this skull. It looked like a dragon skull but was a sea water crocodile.

Next we went to the tavern.

According to the storyline, the small tavern owner was swallowed by this sea monster and had to cut his way out of the stomach. There were also pirates singing and doing jigs near here.

Next we went to the crypt. In the crypt were dark tunnels filled with creature statues. There was also a wall of crypts filled with mummified bodies. Finding something under one of the bodies was one of the tasks the characters sent quest seekers to do. At night there were live creatures in the crypt.

There were lanterns hanging on the door that you could use in the crypt. The boys loved the lanterns, but once the boys saw the dark tunnels and the creatures, they wouldn’t go in. I went in by myself later while Siara and Nate watched the boys.

This headless horseman went by as we were leaving the crypt area. The horses were huge.

There was also this cage that people could get into for a picture. The boys were still freaked out about the crypt, so didn’t they try it until later in the evening.

We went somewhere less scary next. There were some activities you could do to get skills to join a Hunter’s Guild. One of the activities was axe throwing.

It was harder than it looked.

Another of the activities was archery.

Locke really wanted to do this one, so he waited patiently for his turn.

Monster pictures were the targets, and if you got a bullseye you got some kind of proof to show to the guild.

Locke did really well, but he got a little flustered toward the end because he was a little small for the shooting area.

Another activity was to try to get a ring onto a hook. It was a little hard. I didn’t see anyone do it. Link started throwing the ring over the post. He did all four of them and excitedly came and told me he had done it. Then he tried again and hit himself in the head. (In the below video, Nate is being a stealthy archer–kinda. Haha.)

Next we went to a hobbit house. The boys didn’t want to go in at first because the entry holes looked dark and scary (like the crypt) but inside was a little house with hobbits singing.

This hobbit house was amazing. It had several rooms. There were two hobbits inside playing music and interacting with guests.

Inside of the hobbit house (or burrows).

One of the hobbits.

Another one.

A suit of armor in the Hobbit house.

This is a portal arch made out of flat stones. It was an amazing structure.

This is the graveyard–with actual headstones from England. The mausoleum is the building behind it. The boys wouldn’t go into it because it sits on top of the crypts.(Link got brave and went in later when I told him there wasn’t anything scary in it.)

Inside the mausoleum were tunnel corridors that led to a book in a cobweb covered middle room.

The book was guarded by some kind of spider creature that jumped out when you got too close to the book. Information in the book was part of the quest.

Down the hill, in the fallen alter ruins, was this giant animatronic Fae King. He looked like a scary demon, but the kids weren’t too scared. People could stand in front of him and have a conversation, like the girl in this picture.

We had seen most everything, so we went back to a few like this cage. Love Locke’s face. He knows how to be a ham.

Next we went to the fire pits to hang out while waiting for Siara and Nate. Locke is listening intently to a father and sons on the other side. The father said he heard some scary things were supposed to come out at about 8:30. Locke got really concerned. I was a little anxious too. I don’t like scary.

This is what the scary things looked like that came out later and were wandering around. They were supposed to have some kind of plague. A certain character gave Siara and Nate some Latin words to ward them off. Siara dramatically tried it and it was really funny when it ran away

While we were at Evermore, one of the food buildings started on fire from a faulty microwave. At first I thought it was just smoke effects. They evacuated everyone to the front square for a little bit. All the characters gathered there as well so the quests could continue. That was were we saw one of the scary things. Siara said she saw one of them reflexively jerking to the rhythm of the music, and then when the music stopped it continued being a zombie. Funny. The park tried to put out the fire themselves with hoses and power washers, but it just kept smoking, so they eventually had to call the fire department.

While waiting, we sat by this outdoor fireplace.

The next few items were some decor in the front square, like the below ?

and this skeleton driven hearse

A black eyed man came by with this pony.

After they let us go back into the main part of the park, we checked out this tunnel of jack-o- lanterns.

Evermore is still under construction in some parts. There was a old church being built and some other buildings. I look forward to seeing the new stuff. It was an amazing place!
