December MD

Just delivered cranberry nut cookie mix gifts to the neighbors. It’s a tradition in our cul-de-sac to give each other treats at Christmas. I put the mix in whatever containers I had.  The boys helped me deliver them. Locke loved it. He said Merry Christmas to everyone.

Christmas Eve 2018

When Siara, Nate, and the kids came back from Las Vegas we had our Christmas. First, we had a Christmas Eve where we told the story of Jesus’ birth, and then we each opened one present.  We opened the gifts the kids had picked out when they went shopping with their mom and dad. Nate and Siara wanted to teach the kids to think about others at Christmas.

For our gifts, Siara said the kids insisted on getting us these hats.  Grandpa’s hat is poop and grandma’s hat is a unicorn. So funny, but at least they are nice and warm, and the kids look adorable in them (below).                                         Locke got Steve from Minecraft from Link, Link got a Hulk vehicle from Locke, Nate got a Christmas tie from the kids, and Siara got some bath items like bath bombs  and scrubbers from the kids.

Christmas Day 2018 on December 29th

We had the old, less formal tree and ornaments up because the other tree was in storage. The kids liked all the candy canes, gingerbread men, red bells, etc. ornaments. It was great for kids.

The unwrapped gifts by the tree were from Santa (Nate and Siara) such as the crash track and Link’s tractor. The boys had a ball putting lots of cars on the track and watching them crash.  Locke also got a bow and arrow with suction cups that he would shoot at all the windows and mirrors. They stuck great. I got Locke some toy binaculars, and I got Link a tractor that he could take apart with a toy screw driver. The kids had lots of fun with that toy.

I also got the family a flying saucer toy. It could fly through the air and would move up or down or to the side if you put your hands near it. The kids loved it. After checking out the unwrapped gifts, the kids checked out their stockings–by dumping them. I got them some more of the bath paint and bath colors that they love.

I gave Siara and Nate the same thing I gave them last year, a trip to the Homestead Resort. Last year we didn’t get to go because it wasn’t cold enough and the ice castle melted. This year we are going early to avoid that happening again. I had reservations for the room- the Bunkhouse that fits 6 people, the tickets to the ice castle, the swimming in the volcano, and the tubing. We decided we wanted to stay two nights so Siara and Nate paid for the extra night. Nate and Siara built the back patio for our gift, which was an amazing gift

Dad got lots of what he called “crap” for Christmas this year. First he got a poop hat and then he got this poop card game.  He gets lots of stuff like that from family because it’s funny and he has a good sense of humor. At least he got one normal gift. I got him the sweater to the right. It looks really nice on him.

Nate and Siara also got some other card games for the kids and for their family. Their biggest gift they got for their family was an amazing virtual reality system. The situations felt so real. We did heart surgery and had to cut open the ribs, take out the lungs and put a new heart in. That was a little disturbing. We also did a flying one which was fun because I always have dreams of flying. We also did a face your fears one. It had fear of heights and scary monsters in a bedroom. They were both super freaky. The heights one I couldn’t keep my balance because I felt like I would fall. Technology just keeps getting more and more amazing.
